The purpose of a safe room is to provide a place of refuge for the occupants of the house in the event of a natural disaster such as a tornado or hurricane.

Safe rooms are typically built to withstand extreme weather conditions and are equipped with reinforced walls, doors, and windows to provide maximum protection. They may also be equipped with communication systems, such as a phone or intercom, to allow the occupants to contact emergency services and may even be outfitted with basic necessities such as food, water to sustain occupants for an extended period of time. Overall, a safe room serves as a secure and safe place where occupants can retreat to during an emergency situation.
